My friend, Audy, recommended that I read some Twain. I read Tom Sawyer and Huck Finn when I was in elementary school, and surprisingly enough, I've retained both stories quite well. He suggested that I read them again anyway. The difference in perspective gained through the experience which comes with age, he advocated, would bring new meaning to, as well as an increased appreciation of, Mark Twain's writings.
I didn't get very far into Huck's adventures before realizing that Audy was right. Once I started I couldn't stop reading. I read the really good chapters twice. No sense going into the details of the story, read it yourself, Mr. Clemens tells it better than I.
After finishing this one, I went on to read half a dozen or so other Mark Twain books. There are sure to be more of his books featured here in months to come.
