Last April, I faced the possibility of renaming the main file for my website by one letter. Whether you change one little thing, or revamp the whole works, tracking down each and every reference to the changed address(es) is a major project when the site contains hundreds of files -- not to mention getting other people, who were nice enough to link to me from their pages in the first place, to change those links to reflect the changes I have made.
I decided not to change that filename at that time, but it got me thinking about the possibility of being forced, at some point in the future, to move my website to another address on the web. My friend, Jade, offered to host my website at Fuse Communications and as I was telling him that I wouldn't move my site until I could afford to register the name roggeman.com, so that I would have my own domain name that I could take with me if I move again -- ergo, I won't have to go through what I have over the last couple of months, ever again -- Julie offered to pay the registration as my Christmas gift . . . I hesitated only briefly before turning back to Jade, saying: "Make it so." And so I spent the last two months editing files to get the new, reorganized directory structure ready for unveiling by Christmas -- more than just *some* assembly required.
But it's done now, I think. If you notice any glitches with links between my pages, though (external sites change all the time and I have no control over those pages), please let me know about it, and if I can fix it, I will.
Oh yes, and welcome to the new site!
